Happy New Year!

The start of the New Year is a time to reflect on the past while looking ahead to creating new memories. This past year has been filled with shared accomplishments, exciting events, and the joy of being with your children, which brings us all together. The growth and success of our students are a direct result of the strong partnership between home and school, and we are truly fortunate to have such a supportive community. I wish you and your loved ones a New Year filled with happiness, treasured moments, and endless possibilities—may 2025 be your best year yet!

An important reminder... If your child is going to be absent from school, please be sure to report the absence using the absentee line. Please leave a message reporting your child's name, teacher, and reason for the absence. Thank you in advance!

What's Happening in January!

January brings a fresh start to the year. This month hosts a variety of events from New Year's celebrations and winter festivals, providing a range of activities throughout the month.

⛄ Fashion Show- this fun school-wide activity culminates our unit of study on "clothing". Students will walk down the runway showcasing their creativity and style on January 17th.

⛄ Music with Kurt Gallagher- the HSA has kindly secured the talented musician Kurt Gallagher. Kurt is a family music performer who engages children in music and fun! Kurt Gallagher will be joining us on January 21st..

⛄ Polar Bear Club- January and February are marked by chilly temperatures. The HSA is looking for parent volunteers to organize and facilitate indoor activities for our students during recess. Please consider volunteering your time by emailing the HSA at contact@glenhsa.org .

Outdoor Recess

As the temperatures get colder, please be sure to send your child to school in layers. We will maximize our time outside whenever possible.

Hello Glen School Families!

This is a gentle reminder to send me evidence of your child's Flu vaccine, if you have not already done so. It is a New Jersey Department of Health requirement for all children under 5 in order to attend preschool after January 1st. If you have a religious or medical exemption letter, please make sure it's dated and signed.

We have seen our share of a stomach virus, along with colds, coughs and Flu so far this year. I appreciate everyone's cooperation in following the golden 24 hour rule! Please ensure that your child has been fever free for a full 24 hours (without fever reducing medications) before returning to school. This also applies to vomiting and diarrhea. Viruses often come with relapses, and it's important that a child has ample rest and recovery time at home. This helps prevent the spread of illness at school and also prevents the recovering child from getting sick again. I always welcome phone calls and emails about any health/symptom related questions you may have. I wish you all a happy and HEALTHY holiday break and New Year!

Stay Connected with Glen School's HSA

Happy New Year from your HSA! Thank you for making our Fall 2024 fundraising so successful – between the Spirit Wear sale, Read-a-Thon, Cards for a Cause, Photoshoot fundraiser, Scholastic Book Fair, and Winter bake sale, we’ve come far toward our year-end class gift fundraiser for additional playground equipment for Glen School!

Here’s a quick look at upcoming HSA events and activities in January and February:

First and foremost, Polar Bear Club!!! – With the chilly weather upon us, we are looking for parent volunteers to help host indoor recess activities. Please look out for an online sign-up link or email us at contact@glenhsa.org if you can help! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!

There are two 20 minute sessions per day at mid-day (around 11:55AM-1PM), and each volunteer will get to spend one session with their child’s class. Activities can be simple, like doing the Freeze Dance (over and over…) or bringing along a pop-up tunnel to play in.

Music Fun with Kurt Gallagher – We are excited to host the fantastic Mr. Kurt in January for fun-filled music sessions with the students. Mr. Kurt is known for his silly songs and playful, energetic performances so we hope the children enjoy this special treat!

Pet Show – We are welcoming back Eyes of the Wild this year with their amazing animal show to round out the students’ pets unit in early Febuary!

Candygrams – Watch for more information on how to send HSA Candygrams to your child’s classmates for Valentine’s Day this year!

February Bake Sale – Missed out on baking for our holiday bake sale? Come show off your skills for the Bake Sale that the HSA will hold after the Glen School “Songs from the Heart” Concert on February 19! If you’d like to contribute any nut-free desserts or help work at the sale, email us at contact@glenhsa.org!
